What is GST?

GST means goods and service tax levy on supply of Goods and Services. It is biggest tax reforms in indirect tax, previously we pay VAT on Goods and Service tax on supply of services but in GST there is one tax so that it is called "One Nation One Tax".

The Goods and Service Tax Act was passed in the Parliament on 29th March 2017. The Act came into effect on 1st July 2017; Goods & Services Tax Law in India is a comprehensive, multi-stage, destination-based tax that is levied on every value addition.


Who is requires taking GST Registration?

In the GST Regime, businesses whose turnover exceeds Rs. 40 lakhs (Rs 10 lakhs for NE and hill states) is required to register as a normal taxable person. This process of registration is called GST registration. For certain businesses, registration under GST is mandatory.

Even if your turnover does not exceed the prescribed limit you may take voluntary registration.

Documents Requires for GST Registration?


Documents are one of the essential prerequisites for every legal permits and license. Therefore, you must know what documents you will require while applying for GST registration.

  • PAN of the applicant or taxpayer
  • Photographs of all the Directors, Partners, and Owners
  • Proof of registration of business such as Certificate of Incorporation
  • Partnership deed, in case the company is LLP or partnership firm
  • Identity proof of all the promoters of the business
  • Identity proof of all the Directors, Promoters, and Shareholder
  • Address proof of the registered business location
  • Details of the bank accounts of the business
  • Letter of Authorization from the Board of Directors or Partners

Registration process under GST Regime?

Before taking GST, Registration taxpayer may aware about GST compliance like GST return filling, proper account maintaining etc.

Here is the process for obtaining GST Registration:

  • Fill the Basic details like State, Legal name of Business, PAN, Mobile number and e-mail, details verified through OTP, once it is verified temporary reference number generated.

  • Before Registration, Please note that your name in PAN and Legal name of Business should matched.
  • Fill all the basic details such as:

    • f. Dealing with Top 5 Goods/Services
    • g. Bank account Details
    • h. Verification

  • If there are several different business verticals within a single state, then, one must file different and separate applications under GST REG-01 for each individual vertical.
